2D/3D Modeling and Drafting

Metallurgical & Materials Technologies’ (MMT) engineering and drafting/design department uses reverse engineering to assist in failure analysis. During the analysis process, 3D models of parts and assemblies, in conjunction with stress analysis and materials testing, are used to evaluate the failed component and the response of the components to the environment and conditions in which they operate.

The model above was developed by our design/drafting department to assist in the analysis of a failed shaft that failed in service. The model was needed to evaluate the response of the shaft to applied loads. Schematic drawings and the specifications for the shaft and the material from which the shaft to applied loads. Schematic drawings and the specifications for the shaft and the material from which the shaft was fabricated were not available.

The drafting/design department provides reverse engineering 3D/2D drawings for our manufacturing and machine shop clients for parts to be manufactured or to be machined and put back into service. If you have or are considering projects that may need design, drafting, or 2D and 3D modeling, we would love to discuss your project.
